If you’re a Windows Phone user and you’re yet to upgrade your device to Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, then you’ll no longer be able to access the Windows Phone Marketplace.

Microsoft had warned Windows Phone users back in April that it would be making fundamental changes to its Marketplace, and that earlier versions of its mobile operating system would not be able to access the store. It confirmed that users would need to update to Mango to download new apps or receive updates to those that they already own.

Those changes have now been made, it seems, and those without Mango have had their noses pushed out. Anyone who tries to access the Marketplace today, according to Pocket-lint, will simply see an error message.

The good news is, it’s easy to update: Simply plug your device your Windows Phone device into your computer and use the Zune application (Windows) or Windows Phone 7 Connector (Mac) to download and install the update. You’ll then have the latest version of Windows Phone on your device and you’ll wonder why you didn’t update earlier.

Have you upgraded to Mango yet?
